'The chapter describes individual and dyadic art therapy with a four-year-old girl and her mother. Relational trauma, sexual abuse, identity and the mother/child relationship are explored. Countertransference images are employed as reflective tools from which to gain greater perspective on the work and reference points for exploration of emerging themes. The images contain aspects of the strong transference and countertransference dynamics typical when working with this age group.'

Key words: transference, countertransference, attachment, loss, grief, cross-cultural art therapy

The title for the book is;

'Art therapy in the early years: art as a therapeutic intervention with infants, toddlers and their families.' Edited by Julia Meyerowitz-Katz and Dean Reddick.
